Landfill Facility Manager/Director of Operations/District Manager

About Us:  We are a leading company in the waste management industry, known for our advanced environmental controls, strict adherence to compliance standards, and exceptional customer service. We specialize in managing both non-hazardous and asbestos waste. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Landfill Facility Manager/Director of Operations/District Manager to lead our team and ensure we maintain our industry-leading standards.

Position Overview:  The Landfill Facility Manager/Director of Operations/District Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the landfill facility, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimizing processes for maximum efficiency, and maintaining a focus on safety and environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Operational Oversight: Lead the daily operations of the landfill facility, ensuring the smooth and efficient management of waste and resources.
  • Compliance & Regulation: Ensure all landfill activities are in strict compliance with local and state regulations, particularly Illinois EPA permits and environmental standards.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Oversee environmental controls, including synthetic and clay liners, leachate collection, gas management, and groundwater monitoring systems.
  • Process Optimization: Lead initiatives to minimize hauling time, reduce disposal costs, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Manage all necessary paperwork, including manifests, regulatory documentation, and compliance reporting.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration: Work closely with various teams, including customer service, safety, and maintenance, to ensure seamless landfill operations.
  • Safety & Security: Ensure all safety protocols are followed, monitor site surveillance systems, and maintain a secure environment for staff and operations.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Business, or related field (preferred) .
  • Proven experience in waste management, landfill operations, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge local/state regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to lead teams and collaborate across departments.
  • Commitment to environmental sustainability and safety protocols.
