Position Purpose:
As a vital part of the country's food supply chain, our delivery drivers ensure that customers receive their products on time and in excellent condition. In addition, drivers act as the face of our company, cultivating lasting relationships with our customers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries.
- Collaborate as a team member within the department and across the organization, fulfilling any assigned duties to support the company.
- Conduct pre/post trip safety checks, inspecting trucks and trailers to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
- Report any safety issues or necessary repairs promptly.
- Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving guidelines.
- Inspect trailers to confirm secure and properly loaded freight.
- Verify and check items according to customer invoices.
- Complete all required paperwork related to freight accurately and legibly.
- Move tractor to the loading dock as needed and attach preloaded trailers.
- Drive to deliver customer orders according to a predetermined schedule.
- Unload products and transport them to designated customer storage areas.
- Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and communicate with supervisors as necessary.
- Verify delivery with the customer and obtain proper signatures.
- Collect payments (cash or checks) where required and secure trailer doors properly.
- Ensure that tractors, trailers, and freight are always locked and secured.
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns, completing the necessary paperwork.
- Maintain a daily record of hours of service in compliance with federal and state requirements.
- Keep the tractor, loading dock, and trailers clean and organized.
- At the end of each shift, secure all equipment and complete all required paperwork.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 12+ months of commercial driving experience.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Valid CDL A.
- Meet all state licensing and certification requirements.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report for the past 3 years.
- Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Pass a road test.
- Valid DOT Health Card or ability to secure one.
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases/freight ranging from 10-90 pounds.
