OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY The Restaurant Kitchen Assistant is assigned to support and assist Chef Instructors and kitchen staff on all aspects of culinary production for the CIA Restaurant.
SHIFTS - Between Tuesday - Saturday, 7:00AM-4:00PM
ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Observes and assists in culinary production.
- Assists at ensuring that the line is maintained throughout the day; stocked, clean, and organized.
- Assists at ensuring kitchen cleanliness at end of shift and all storage is clean, as well as equipment and work areas.
- Assists other students as needed.
- Provides high quality customer service in a timely manner.
- Communicates all pertinent information to the Chef Instructors and kitchen staff as necessary.
- Assists at maintaining inventories of raw ingredients, sanitation supplies and production.
- Assists at ensuring that equipment and machinery is properly used and maintained.
- Maintains confidentiality of all faculty, staff, student and guest information.
- Works cohesively with other department members as part of a team.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
PREREQUISITES - Completed Culinary Fundamentals, OR, have six-months to one-year cooking experience in full-service restaurant, hotel or resort.
PREFERRED PRIOR EXPERIENCES - Background in a fine dining restaurant establishment.
- Six-months to one-year cooking experience in full-service restaurant, hotel or resort.
- 6 additional culinary lab credits at the CIA

Successful applicant must be able to perform all related functions of the assignment which may include working nights and weekends, ability to bend reach and stand for long periods of time, lifting and carrying of items up to fifty (50) pounds, and the ability to withstand high ambient temperatures.
