OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY The Kitchen Assistant is assigned to support and assist the Apple Pie Bakery Caf's production kitchen - Savory Prep. The Kitchen Assistant will be prepping and producing food for guests and learning other aspects of baking and culinary productions for the Apple Pie Bakery Cafe.
- Between Monday - Friday 5:30AM-4:00PM
ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Observes and assists in culinary production.
- Completes opening and closing side work as assigned with the goal of contributing to an organized, well-prepared work environment.
- Assists at ensuring that the line is maintained throughout the day; stocked, clean, and organized.
- Assists at ensuring kitchen cleanliness throughout and at end of shift and all storage is clean, as well as equipment and work areas.
- Assists other students as needed.
- Assist with the training of students on the line and in K19 in coordination with faculty and staff.
- Demonstrate standards of proper food safety and sanitation.
- Provides high quality customer service in a timely manner.
- Communicates all pertinent information to the Caf staff and Chef Instructor as necessary
- Assists at maintaining inventories of ingredients, sanitation supplies and production.
- Assists in ensuring that equipment and machinery is properly used and maintained.
- Maintains confidentiality of all faculty, staff, student, and guest information.
- Works cohesively with other department members as part of a team.
- Assist with tracking hours and following up on missed punches utilizing SETA. (Exempt Staff Approval Required)
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
PREREQUISITES PREFERRED PRIOR EXPERIENCES - Previous Front of House or Back of the House restaurant or cafe experience.
- Strong work ethic and ability to professionally handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to learn and work quickly as part of a team.
- Serve-safe certified or equivalent

Successful applicant must be able to perform all related functions of the assignment which may include working nights and weekends, ability to bend reach and stand for long periods of time, lifting and carrying of items up to fifty (50) pounds, and the ability to withstand high ambient temperatures.
