Reporting to the VP & Associate General Counsel, the Senior Legal Counsel position provides sophisticated advice on a broad range of third-party risk management activities, technology contracting, outsourcing and corporate law matters for the Bank.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
Provide knowledge of third-party risk management, non-disclosure agreements, outsourcing arrangements, licenses, cloud and SAAS agreements, consulting arrangements, and technology aspects of commercial arrangements.
Support various client groups within the Bank and represent the Legal Department on a variety of matters including third-party risk management and contractual arrangements.
Give pragmatic advice, review, negotiate and draft commercial and other agreements, create precedents, processes and systems, and occasionally instruct outside counsel.
Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
Qualified to practice law in Ontario or another Canadian province.
At least 8-10 years of relevant experience gained at a major financial institution or law firm.
Excellent knowledge of third-party risk management, non-disclosure agreements, outsourcing arrangements, licenses, cloud and SAAS agreements, consulting arrangements, and technology aspects of commercial arrangements.
Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills and excellent judgement.
Knowledge of OSFI Guideline B-10.
