Description Job Summary: - Provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following policies and procedures.
- Verify patient information by interviewing patient and confirming purpose of the visit.
- Determine if the purpose of visit is urgent or emergent and should be taken directly to the ER.
- Collect patient demographics upon arrival.
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by keeping patient information confidential.
- Prepare patient for exam by collecting medical history, vital signs, and required clinical information.
- Document patient current medications and all allergies.
- Assist provider during testing, examinations, and procedure when needed.
- Follow provider's instructions to complete patient treatment.
- Provide and record all medications and immunizations ordered by provider and given to the patient.
- Take patient specimen and carry out laboratory test(s) ordered by the provider.
- Stock rooms with necessary supplies.
- Keep supplies ready by taking inventory on stock; communicate to the manager when an order needs to be placed.
- Perform administrative duties such as answering calls, returning calls, and verifying that lab and imaging reports are received.
- Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.
- Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.
Qualifications Education: Medical assistant certification from the Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants preferred.
Experience: 1-year minimum experience as CMA.
Additional Skills/Abilities: Professionalism, strong verbal communication, customer focus, confidentiality, excellent bedside manners and teamwork. Essential knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to use business office equipment. Ability to perform general office duties and to use multiline telephones, computers, hospital system, copiers and fax machine. Knowledge of relevant OSHA, JCAHO and CLIA requirements and guidelines. Ability to use clinical equipment such as scales, thermometer, butterfly needles, stethoscope, etc. Ability to collect specimen. Experience with treatments such as dressing changes, ear irrigation, and nebulizer. Ability to work hand-in-hand with coworkers and providers to ensure the highest level of care.
