Description Prep Cook
Pay Rate: $17/hour
Shift:30-39 hrs , varies depending on event schedule including Saturdays and Holidays.
Benefits: Medical only. Thanksgiving Point family membership, discounts on food, retail, summer camps and classes, free or discounted tickets to Thanksgiving Point events.
Purpose: The purpose of a prep cook is to prepare the necessary items for the upcoming parties and work a team whose goal is to prepare and cook food for banquets.
Scope of: Major responsibilities include, maintaining set pars of food quantity. Assuring that the quality of the food is up to the set standards is next. Personal workspace cleanliness and organization are a must in order to work this position at this level. Finally, assuring that your co-workers are able to do the same by helping out and encouraging them.
Essential Functions: - Maintain the quantity of the food based on set pars.
- Maintain the quality of the food based on set standards.
- Maintain a clean workstation.
- Stay busy at all times, help others or ask for additional tasks.
- Encourage co-workers to do the same.
- Realize the whole operation when completing individual tasks.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills: Education - High School Student or Graduate. Willing to continue education of food while on the job.
Experience - Kitchen experience is essential
- Previous line cook experience is a plus but not a must.
Skills - Must have good knife skills.
- Must have a good sense of timing.
- Must understand a variety of cooking techniques.
- Must be able to take assignments willingly.
- Must love food and feeding people.
- Must be able to lift heavy things.
- Must be able to pass a background check
