Job Description The Human Resource Assistant I provides administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources department. This role involves a variety of tasks related to compensation, benefits, staffing/employment, EEO procedures, and policy administration. The Human Resource Assistant I is expected to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and utilize office equipment effectively.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Clerical and Administrative Support: - Answer phone calls and emails, responding to inquiries or directing them to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Prepare and process HR-related documents, such as new hire paperwork, benefits enrollment forms, and performance evaluations.
- Assist with the recruitment process, including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and conducting background checks.
- Coordinate employee onboarding and orientation programs.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
- Assist with payroll processing and timekeeping.
- Maintain HR databases and generate reports as needed.
- Assist with the administration of employee relations programs and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education and Experience: - High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2-3 years of experience in a human resources environment.
Skills and Abilities: - Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Knowledge of HR principles and practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, and fax machines.
