POSITION SUMMARY:nnThe Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient need, identifies the urgent or emergent care priority, and collaboratively provides direct care, applies appropriate interventions, and evaluates patient progress. The ED RN evidences skill in the use of various invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions appropriate to manage life-threatening and routine emergency situations. The ED RN utilizes the principles of relationship based care to alieviate anxiety, provide information, and address pain/discomfort and safety. He/She assesses the physiological, psychosocial, emotional, and cultural needs of patients of all age groups, their families, and support systems as appropriate.nnQUALIFICATIONS:nnEDUCATION:nnMinimum:nnGraduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.nnPreferred:nnBSNnnLICENSE:nnMinimum :nnCurrently licensed by NYS as a registered professional nurse.nnPROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:nnMinimum :nnBLS, ACLS, PALS required through the RQI system during clinical orientation.nnBasic Coronary Care within 6 months of hire.nnCPI certification within 90 days of hire.nnPreferred :nnCertification by the Emergency Nurses Association is recommended within 2 years of hire.nnTNCC recommended within 2 years of hire.nnWORK EXPERIENCE:nnMinimum:nnOne year acute hospital experience as a registered professional nurse.nnDemonstrates competence in patient assessment, basic interventions, patient safety, and patient relations.nnPreferred:nnPrevious ED experiencennSKILLS:nnMinimum:nnModerate sedation competency within six months of hire into this position.nnDemonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the people in a professional and courteous manner.nnAbility to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.nnExcellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.nnComputer literacynnPreferred :nnExperience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical recordnnSalary Range: $39.52-$49.44
