POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Financial Analyst (Reporting & Grants Management). In this role, the successful candidate serves as a member of the Reporting & Grants Management Team, and is responsible for the monitoring and review of financial reports and grants management oversight as related to sponsor reporting deliverables for NYUSOM grants and contracts. This includes, but is not limited to sponsored projects management, research accounting and sponsor reporting. The FA will also be responsible for the preparation and review of FSRs and invoices for sponsor submission.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains and performs regular reconciliation of grant accounts for assigned portfolio in preparation of sponsor reporting deliverables and project closeouts; this includes but is not limited to: reconciliation of fringe, F&A, review of unallowable expenses and alignment of expenses against approved and authorized budget.

Reviews the award agreements for all grants, contracts, subcontracts and clinical trials within PeopleSoft from appropriate source documentation.

Ensures the completion of new budget periods, maintains budget modifications and project extensions so that annual financial information is accurate and up-to-date.
n
Reviews prepared Reporting & Closeout packages by departments for final submission of financial requirements to sponsors.
n
Prepares final reporting format and back-up documentation for sponsor submission of Financial Reports (FSRs), including final confirmation of reporting information, sponsor requirements and format.
n
Ensures timely and complete submission of financial reports, invoices and project close-outs.
n
Provide guidance and technical training to Research Community as needed and appropriate.
n
Assists in process improvements and implementation of new business plans and efficiencies to overall Grant Management process.
n
Provides backup and assistance to Post Award Leads as needed.

ADDITIONAL POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial Controls and Compliance: Perform work within the established goals and objectives for Research Financial Operations: Research project expenses are managed within budget, per sponsor contracts and in a timely manner Monthly financial close is accurate and timely All Sponsors financial contract terms are met All projects granted and contracted funds are collected in a timely manner The Uniform Guidance audit with no material findings Planning, Organizing, Collaborating and Decision Making Performs within plan, established priorities and across multiple functional areas. Exercises initiative and sound judgment in performance. Escalates issues appropriately. Contributes meaningfully to developing solutions and independently completes assigned work in a timely manner. Deliverables are accurate and timely. Utilizes time efficiently. Prepares in advance for meetings and maintains minutes and action items. Monitoring, Quality Control, Reporting and Record Keeping Assists Finance Manager in developing exception reporting, performs routine quality control. Maintains an accessible electronic final copy of all external formal submissions and/or internally published reports, trainee schedules, etc. Provides guidance and departmental support related to the management and monitoring of sponsored research grants. Quality Control (Improving Business Processes) Follows all SLAs and Procedures are assists in cross-training for staff. Exceptions are managed and resolved. Root cause analyses are preformed when appropriate. Practices Continuous Improvement. Communications Ability to communicate effectively with staff, peers, senior management and faculty. Positively represents the Institution when dealing with sponsors, outside institutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree and minimum 3 years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination.Superior communication skills, both written and verbalPossess strong customer service and problem solving skill setsKnowledgeable of accrual basis of accounting.
