Summary:
Will independently assess, diagnose, prescribe medications and treat patients according to the established protocols in collaboration with physicians.
The NP will function within the scope of practice as defined by the state nurses practice act, delineation of privileges set forth by the practice setting and the American Nurses' Association Code of Ethics.
Provide triage referral coordination, develops differential diagnosis, and individualized care plans along with patient education for specific disease types as appropriate.
Position Responsibilities:
• Provides the range of treatment or service needed by the patient based on the patient's age specific and acute/chronic or health maintenance needs. This range of treatment includes, but is not limited to History and Physicals exams, consultations and referrals, Ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests. Pharmacologic interventions, where clinically indicated, will be in accordance with the established joint protocols and APN prescribing guidelines.
• Performs therapeutic treatments, including but not limited to: wound care, suturing, performing and assisting with minor office procedures, and drain removal.
• Administrative responsibilities which may include scheduling surgical cases, providing triage, orientation of clinical staff, precepting of students, and call rotation as required based on the practice.
• Ensures practice compliance in accordance with regulatory guidelines. Displays motivation and initiative in meeting the goals of the practice.
• Appropriately documents subjective and objective findings including assessment and plan in the patient's medical record. Ensures accurate coding and billing.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary care team to provide each patient and their family the highest quality healthcare. Including assessment of patient/family knowledge and initiation of patient/family education.
• For uncommon or unstable conditions, the NP will participate in the diagnosis with consultation and either refer to a specialist or participate in the dual management and treatment with the collaborating physician.
Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:
Must have excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Required Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, Master's Degree in Nursing.
Training/Certifications/Licensure:
Stay current with Medical trends and provide evidence-based practice medicine by completing the required continuing education credits as mandated by state requirement.
Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse is required.
Current NJ RN license and appropriate Advance Practice licensure for specialty.
BLS certification.
CDS and DEA licensure.
