An Interventional Radiology (IR) Registered Nurse (RN) is a highly skilled nursing professional who specializes in providing patient care in an interventional radiology setting. This role requires specialized knowledge and expertise in the field of interventional radiology and perioperative care. The following are some of the key responsibilities of an IR RN:
Preoperative assessment: conducting comprehensive assessments of patients prior to procedures to identify their health needs and develop care plans.
Instrumentation and equipment management: preparing and maintaining the procedure room and its equipment, including sterile technique, instrumentation and supplies, and monitoring equipment.
Intraoperative patient care: providing direct patient care during procedures, including monitoring patients' vital signs, administering medications, and responding to any emergency situations that may arise.
Postoperative care: providing care to patients after procedures, including monitoring vital signs, managing pain, and observing for signs of complications.
Collaborating with other healthcare professionals: working with interventional radiologists, anesthesiologists, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
Maintaining medical records: keeping accurate and up-to-date medical records and documenting patient care activities.
Education and training: participating in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and advances in interventional radiology and perioperative care.
The ideal candidate for this role should have a current RN license and several years of experience as a registered nurse in an interventional radiology or perioperative care setting. Strong clinical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well under pressure are also important qualities for this role. Additionally, experience with interventional radiology procedures and a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology is highly desirable.
This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
