We are seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists for a long term locum tenens opportunity in Dallas, TX.
The successful candidate will be able to do the following:
- 90% of the time is involved in direct patient care.
- Ability to perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluation/assessments to inpatient medical units and the Emergency Department.
- Contractor shall be responsible for providing direct patient care and psychiatric consultation in all areas under the jurisdiction of the Consult-Liaison team, inpatient, and outpatient setting. These include but are not limited to the Emergency Department, medical-surgical units, ICUs, Community Living Center, and after-hours coverage for the MH inpatient unit and RRTP
- Be skilled in general, psychosomatic, and emergency psychiatry
- He/she should be competent in the management of individuals with a broad range of clinical problems, including but not limited to post-traumatic stress disorder, mood, anxiety and psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, as well as delirium and other psychiatric presentations of medical illness.
- Order diagnostic studies and interprets laboratory test, EKG, and radiology diagnostic tests (CXR, CT SCAN, MRI) as indicated
- Provide timely ongoing care for assigned patients. Screens patients to determine need for further care.
- Prescribe and refills medications within the defined scope of practice
- Carry out health promotion and disease prevention
- Initiate and expedite requests for consultations and scheduling special tests and studies.
- Oversee and assist PAs/NPs as needed.
