Purpose of Job This casual position is responsible for providing direct care for patients with needs in the areas of wounds and ostomies in accordance with the Standards of Nursing Care and Practice as defined by Ridgeview Medical Center, the Minnesota Nurse Practice Standards Act, and the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice. Job Functions Assesses patient health problem needs and develops, implements and evaluates patient care plans accordingly. Provides nursing care. Advises and educate patients, family members, and significant others on health maintenance and disease prevention for the patient. Documents and maintains accurate medical records and reports. Participates in quality improvement activities as appropriate to position. Serves as a patient advocate in seeking appropriate community resources to meet patient needs . Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers, other healthcare providers, and colleagues to enhance own professional nursing practice. Evaluates innovative ostomy and wound care products and devices and influence product choices through collaboration with other departments/sites/teams. Demonstrates competencies in the specialty areas of wound and ostomy care. Performs other duties as assigned. When functioning as a Lead: Coordinates the training of new hires: initial competencies. Oversees continuing education. Reviews and recommends educations materials from outside RMC. Assists nurse manager in team communication, staffing,/scheduling, performance management. Reviews and recommends supply utilization. Performs other duties as assigned.
