Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a PRN RN for our Operating Room. The RN provides direct operative patient care as part of a highly trained team of professionals.nnConemaugh Nason Medical Center is a 45-bed hospital that serves rural and suburban populations in Roaring Spring, Altoona, and parts of Blair, Bedford, and Huntingdon counties. Conemaugh Health System serves more than a half-million patients each year through the Nason Physician Group, Conemaugh Physician Group and Medical Staff, a network of four hospitals, specialty clinics and patient-focused programs.nnEssential Functions:nnPerform interventions necessary to ensure that the patient’s procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level.nnPerform interventions to maintain the patient’s wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels.nnPerform interventions to maintain the status of the patient’s genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular and neurological systems and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels.nnPerform interventions to ensure the patient is at or returned to normothermia at the conclusion of the immediate postoperative period.nnPerform interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection.nnDevelop an individualized perioperative patient plan of care.nnProtect the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical and thermal sources.nnDocuments patient care given accurately and completely.nnAct as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.nnProvide consistent and comparable care regardless of the setting.nnPerform accounting procedures to protect the patient from unintended retained surgical items.nnTransfer care as applicable - use handoffs for reporting aidsnnInvolve the patient or designated support person actively in decisions affecting his or her perioperative plan of care and the rehabilitation process.nnManage the patient’s specimens according to organizational policy and procedures.nnMaintain required competencies.nnAssess patients at intervals as stated in policies and procedures.nnCommunicate the patient’s current status to relevant parties throughout the continuum of care.nnAdminister medications safely and correctly.nnEvaluate the patient’s progress toward attaining outcomes.nnAssess the knowledge level of the patient or designated support person.nnProvide education regarding the expected psychosocial response, nutritional management, medication management, pain management, wound management, and expected responses to the operative or invasive procedure.nnProvide age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice.nnParticipate in quality review and performance improvement projects.nnUse problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members.nnOrganizational Expectations:nnDemonstrates support of the mission, vision, values, goals and general policies of Conemaugh Nason Medical Center.nnComplies with corporate compliance guidelines and requirements of federal, state and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.nnAdheres to the standards of professional ethics and handles confidential information in strict conformance with departmental and Medical Center policies.nnProvides quality care and services consistent with Medical Center standards and participates in the Medical Center’s Continuous Quality Improvement Program.nnDemonstrates flexibility and adaptability in response to unexpected changes in the workload, emergencies, staffing and scheduling.nnUses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment and a professional attitude when relating with co-workers, patients, families, and visitors.nnPerforms duties in a self-directed and cooperative manner with minimal need for supervision.
