EXPERIENCE: The ability to effectively educate patient/family and staff is required. Must possess related skills in physical assessment, lab data interpretation, technologist skills and nursing theory and practice related to moderate sedation ("conscious sedation") and Diagnostic Imaging. Minimum of two years nursing with focus in moderate sedation ("conscious sedation") and Diagnostic Imaging is preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES: Current license as a registered nurse (RN) in the State of Nebraska required. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) are required.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: - Coordinates procedure processes with Radiologists, Diagnostic Imaging Radiologic Technologists, Physicians, Clinics and other departments that may be involved.
- Provides patient's with educational and pretest instructions, Conducts pretest interview, collects medical history and other related information.
- Evaluates patient's plan of care in collaboration with Radiologist and Registered Radiologic Technologist. Evaluates patient's physical condition before, during and after test and assesses patient's response to test. Administers medications as needed according to department and organizational policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in performing/assisting with procedures including, but not limited to: Rhizotomies (Radiofrequency Ablation), Endovenous lazer treatment (EVLT), Epidural injections, Lower Lumbar Medial Branch Blocks, Trigger Point Injections, Nephrostomy, Inferior Vena Cava Filter insertion, Sedation and Consultations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and the skills necessary to provide age specific and appropriate care of the patient according to their age category; interprets data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's age specific needs consistent with the care of the patient.
- Records appropriate medical information within the department and patient's electronic medical Record (EMR) in a concise / accurate manner; ensures all information for billing charges is complete. Assists in the revision of patient chart forms as necessary.
- Completes department equipment competencies annually. The RN /Interventional Pain Clinic will participate in the development of nursing standards of practice relative to the Diagnostic Imaging department.
- Participates in development and revision of nursing standards of practice relative to role.
- Attends / participates in departmental meetings / inservices, MLMH Quality Improvement programs, special procedures RN meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
