Riverside Medical Group is seeking an Emergency Department Medical Director for Riverside Smithfield Hospital opening January 2026 in Smithfield, Virginia. The new 50-bed facility includes an almost 12,00 square foot state-of-the-art Emergency Department includes 14 treatment room, a trauma room and additional treatment spaces. The facility will be DNV accredited.
Riverside Smithfield Hospital is affiliated with Riverside Health which offers a comprehensive span of services, from birth through end of life, touching more than two million lives each year. • One mental health and recovery center including a psychiatric emergency department

The Medical Director will:
• Provide clinical leadership to Board Certified Emergency physicians and experienced Advanced Practice Providers.
• Work collaboratively with ED nursing leadership, Executive leadership, and the Inpatient Care Team.
• Collaborate with Quality and Safety personal to ensure the ED service Line and Riverside Health standards of care are meet.
• Execute service excellence and recovery in conjunction with our Patience Advocate Coordinator.
• Collaborate with local EMS.
• Promote Riverside Smithfield's Hospital programs to community stakeholders in our service area.
Requirements:
1. Licensed in Virginia/current DEA
2. ABEM/AOBEM certified in Emergency Medicine with a minimum of 5 yrs. clinical practice
3. Leadership experience
4. Reside in service area of Riverside Smithfield Hospital
