We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the General Surgery unit to coordinate supervise and implement patient care based on competence professional expertise knowledge and evidence-based practice. The Registered Nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with professional standards Nurse Practice Act and hospital job description specific to the unit. This position is critical to the success of Northridge Medical Center and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission and organizational values of the Dignity Health system.nnResponsibilitiesnnAdheres to established Hospital/departmental policies and procedures objectives Quality Assessment and Improvement Program legal safety environmental infection control standards Nurse Practices Act and Patients Bill of Rights.nnApplies clinical knowledge and expertise for coordinating patient care by regularly planning and evaluating the care of patients.nnEstablishes and maintains professional and collaborative relationships with other staff members physicians patients patient family members and the public as appropriate while assuring confidentiality of all patient information.nnDocuments and communicates all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in the patient condition to the appropriate member of the interdisciplinary health care team.nnDemonstrates effective nursing judgement and a working knowledge of the nursing process.nnConducts hourly rounds with the patient and care partner, focusing on pain management, skin integrity, elimination and other miscellaneous patient needs.nnCommunicates the plan of care to the patient and care partner(s) for the active involvement of the patient in the evolution of the plan throughout hospitalization.nnDemonstrates a professional, cooperative manner when dealing with all members of the interdisciplinary health care team.nnAdministers medications to assigned patients as directed and assesses and documents patient responses; initiates appropriate interventions per Hospital/Unit policy.nnDemonstrates an understanding of the approaches to and methods of Continuous Performance Improvement.nnSupervises and assigns duties to unlicensed assistive personnel based on legal scope of practice, regulations, and hospital policy.nnActs as a resource for all aspects of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for employees and medical staff.nnAccesses network and effectively utilizes electronic applications (e.g., e-mail, LMS, T.E.A.M, etc) on a daily basis.nnServes as a preceptor and role model to new personnel and nursing students.nnCollaborates with the supervisory staff to identify own educational and professional growth needs.nnPerforms other related duties as assigned or requested.nnQualificationsnnGraduate of Accredited RN school of NursingnnRegistered Nurse with current California license requirednnMinimum 3 years current acute care registered nursing experience in specialty area required.nnMinimum of one year of experience in a CVOR or related settingnnCurrent AHA BLS requirednnLA City Fire Card required within 90 days of hire.nnExperience with EHR (Cerner MediTech etc) preferred.nnCurrent certification in specialty area preferred.nnThis position is represented by SEIU L121RN and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreementnnPay Rangenn$50.86 - $72.40 /hournnWe are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
