Medical Assistant- Job Description Bryn Mawr Medical Specialists Association is in need of several Medical Assistants for our various specialties. The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in providing excellent patient care and ensures smooth clinical operations. This role works along-side physicians, physician assistants, and nurses. About Us For more than 52 years, the medical experts of BMMSA have been providing personalized care to patients in the Philadelphia region. Our patients have seamless access to 80 highly-trained physicians in 11 specialties and primary care. This integration of primary and specialty care allows our providers to improve communication by using a shared medical chart at various stages of care. Our physicians, nurses and staff work as a team to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care with a “whole person” approach. Responsibilities: Records patient medical history, vital statistics, and information such as test results in medical records Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean Interviews patients to obtain medical information and measures their vital signs, weight, and height Shows patients to examination rooms and prepares them for the physician Prepares and administers medications as directed by a physician Assists in exam rooms by interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and recording weight, blood pressure, and temperature. Documents patient information, and ensures it is complete prior to exam. Ensures exam rooms are clean and well stocked. Sterilizes, cleans, and performs checks on medical equipment. Performs office duties and administrative tasks as assigned. May assist with administrative duties including scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding for insurance purposes. Shows patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physicians Experience, Qualifications, and Education: Must perform work under direct supervision Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter Typically requires a degree from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 0 to 2 years of experience. Some incumbents may possess CMA certification through an accredited certified medical assistant program, but certification is not required. Oral and written communication skills.
