Job Summary:
Assists in planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care within scope of practice for licensed practical nurses. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/area's/department's policies and procedures.
Job Duties:
- Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates competence in care of patients with basic problems. Provides observation monitoring and documentation, facilitates basic Psychoeducational groups specific to the Geriatric psychiatry program.
- Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks for patients with basic problems.
- Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all.
- Identifies and reports changes in patient condition to registered nurse. Help identify patient's problems, needs and strengths, suggesting modifications to treatment plan.
- Collect and recognize data from basic situations to determine priorities for care, to physical, psychosocial and educational needs.
- Responds promptly and positively to patients, families, associates, and all others in a respectful, courteous and confidential manner.
- Participates in promoting cost effectiveness of care. Performs other duties as assigned.
