DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of the Director of Executive Education, the incumbent independently applies professional Student Services concepts in support of the Master of Advanced Study degree program. Provides varied student services to students, faculty, and department / school / college management. Works on moderately complex issues. Receives assistance on more complex issues.
Within assigned degree programs/cohorts, the incumbent performs the following: scheduling and confirming courses, rooms, faculty, catering, etc. as well as organizing workshops, lunch lecture series, student events, and off-campus activities, preparing TED pages, arranging for lecture capture support, advising students, processing applications, troubleshooting and resolving student issues. While planning and implementing programs, this position has direct contact with business leaders and working professionals, UC San Diego campus administrators, faculty, alumni, and industry partners.

QUALIFICATIONS
-
Graduation from college and two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Proven ability to counsel students on program requirements, career opportunities, etc.
Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and pertinent databases.
Knowledge of University processes and procedures. Knowledge of university systems and structures as well as graduate degree policies and procedures.
Understanding of University rules and regulations.
Interpersonal skills.
Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations.
Skills in service orientation, organization, active listening, and critical thinking.
Ability in problem identification and reasoning.
Ability to multi-task; verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with current promotion media tools, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in a variety of areas and handle sensitive matters discreetly and tactfully.
Professional experience in a university or other setting, planning and administering educational courses and/or training programs.
Demonstrated ability to work productively and contribute to staff morale.
Demonstrated ability to conceive and conduct promotional efforts, identifying potential customers and attracting them to a specific product.
Demonstrated advanced skill in using word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation and web maintenance software, preferably in MS Office. Knowledge of modern office machines, procedures and processes and filing systems.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Must be available on occasional evenings and alternating Saturdays for scheduled events and workshops.
Background check and DMV check required.

Must be able to lift and carry items in order to transport items (brochures, supplies) to events.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $53,800 - $91,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $25.77 - $43.58
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
