Job Description

Mackenzie Stuart is currently partnered with a prominent dietary supplement contract manufacturer based in the US, seeking a Category Manager to drive strategic growth and optimize sourcing within their product categories. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the dietary supplement market, along with expertise in category management, sourcing, and supplier relations.


This company is a leader in the dietary supplement contract manufacturing sector, renowned for their commitment to quality and innovation in product development. Specializing in custom formulations and product solutions, they support global brands with a comprehensive suite of manufacturing services.


Responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop and implement category management strategies to drive growth, optimize sourcing, and increase market share. Align category goals with company objectives to support business growth and profitability.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure high standards of quality, pricing, and service. Conduct regular evaluations and negotiate contracts to secure advantageous terms and foster long-term partnerships.
  • Conduct detailed market analysis to identify trends, emerging opportunities, and competitive dynamics. Utilize market insights to inform category strategies, product positioning, and sourcing decisions.
  • Work closely with R&D, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams to ensure product sourcing aligns with quality and compliance standards. Support the launch of new products by collaborating with cross-functional teams on ingredient sourcing and supplier selection.
  • Track and analyse category performance metrics, including cost savings, supplier quality, and lead times. Develop regular reports and present findings to senior management.
  • Identify and mitigate risks within the supply chain to maintain consistent product availability and quality. Develop contingency plans to address potential supply disruptions and ensure business continuity.


To be considered for the role, the following education, experience, and qualifications are required:

  • Proven track record in category management or strategic sourcing, with at least 5 years of experience in the dietary supplement or related industry.
  • Strong understanding of the dietary supplement market, including ingredient sourcing, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills, with experience building strategic supplier partnerships.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.
