Qualification
- The LPN must possess a current and active LPN II license. This license can be from any state, not necessarily Maryland.
- A minimum of three years of experience working with a military population is required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
- The LPN also needs to have a common access card prior to reporting to the clinic
- Familiarity with and adherence to Operational Security (OPSEC) measures, including completion of Level I OPSEC training within 30 calendar days of reporting for duty and annually thereafter
Responsibilities: - Perform medical services in support of individual Soldier medical readiness and comply with all military, legal (HIPAA), and regulatory policies and procedures concerning the duties and responsibilities of an LPN II.
- Educate Soldiers on wellness and medical readiness resources available to educate Soldier
- Comply with all military, legal (HIPPA and Privacy Act), and regulatory policies and procedures concerning these duties and responsibilities of a licensed practical nurse.
- Possess the required technical skills and expertise to perform the functions with minimal guidance.
- Soldier Verification: verify demographic information for all Soldiers who report for medical readiness service or telephonically.
- Anthropomorphic Measurements: Complete and record anthropomorphic measurements (height, weight, pulse, and blood pressure) on all Soldiers reporting for medical readiness service.
- Visual Acuity.: Complete and record visual acuity (near and distance) on all Soldiers reporting for medical readiness service. Soldier reporting for specialty physicals will require additional exams such as depth perception and color blindness.
- Phlebotomy: Perform phlebotomy using proper PPE and aseptic technique.
- Point of Care Services: Perform point of care services (cholesterol, glucose, and pregnancy tests) and document results.
- Vaccinations: Screen records for vaccination requirements and administer vaccines as prescribed. The vaccines will be documented on paper forms and electronically.
- ECG: Perform 12 lead ECG on Soldiers.
- Screening: Screen Soldiers for annual medical readiness requirements and specialty exams.
- Data Entry: Assist with PHA data entry, documenting services rendered.
- Scheduling: Assist with scheduling Soldiers for medical readiness services on Outlook.
- Clinic Phone: Assist with answering the clinic phone and assisting the personnel calling in for assistance.
- Medical Records: Scan medical documents into HRR and file them in the Soldier's medical record in accordance with AR 40-66.
