Job Description
In your application, please indicate if you are interested in a winter (commencing January 2025), summer (commencing May 2025), or fall (commencing September 2025) co-op term.
We are looking to recruit talented students for our Pricing, Valuation, and Project teams. The internships provide an opportunity to obtain valuable hands-on industry experience from experts in the field while participating and contributing to the teams' work and vision. The roles are as follow:
- Experience Study
- Projects (IFRS17, LDTI, etc.)
- Valuation
- Pricing
Note that the posted positions are for a 4-month work term, with the flexibility of extending to 8 months. PartnerRe also offers an opportunity for interns to return and gain experience with our various actuarial teams. This rotation opportunity is dependent of the performance of the student in their first term.
Responsibilities:
- AXIS Modelling - Design and build projection models for individual life reinsurance transactions.
- Data Analysis - Work extensively with large datasets in SQL and R to perform rigorous analysis of client/enforce experience data.
- Financial Analysis - Assist in the preparation and analysis of reserves, required capital, and financial statements.
- Project Work - Provide support to Valuation and Pricing functions (experience analysis, IFRS17, LTDI, etc.).

Qualifications
- Second/Third/Fourth year student in Actuarial Science.
- A minimum of one Society of Actuaries exam.
- Understanding of life insurance products. Previous work experience with life insurance would be considered an asset.
- Strong technical skills including MS Excel and SQL or similar database management tool. R Programming skills are desirable.
- Experience with the GGY AXIS actuarial system is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Information
Transportation & Housing
The internships will be situated in our Canadian office, which is conveniently located in downtown Toronto near Union Station, accessible by GO Transit and the TTC. Transportation assistance will be provided for students moving from out of province.
