Overview

  • A fast-growing Cincinnati manufacturer is looking for a Design Engineer who is looking to grow in a role for a 6-month contract to possible hire. The successful candidate will be responsible for the conception through production implementation of design and development of new products, product improvements, and value engineering to existing product lines using technology and engineering principles.

Responsibilities

  • Design parts, fixtures, and tooling to support the development and manufacture of aluminum ramps, steps, and canopies using computer-assisted design/drafting (Solid Edge) software.
  • Create shop floor drawings for production planning and release to the shop floor.
  • Use knowledge of proper welding techniques to ensure design feasibility.
  • Construct working prototypes from early design concepts and document work.
  • Collaborate with machinists and welders to verify the manufacturability and execution of fixture builds.
  • Interpret and read engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Engage with architects and customers to interpret design specifications.
  • Create sign-off drawings for customer approval prior to production for custom design jobs.
  • Accurately take field measurements and perform site surveys if necessary.


Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil, or structural engineering is required, or relevant work experience is acceptable.
  • Minimum of two years of experience using 3D CAD Software, Solid Edge preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Knowledge or background in construction is helpful.
  • Familiarity with aluminum welding techniques.
  • Knowledge of ADA Standards for accessible ramp and stair design is a plus.
  • Understanding of OSHA Regulations for stairs is a plus.
  • Experience designing aluminum access products is a plus.
  • Works comfortably under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


*** Pay Expectations: $29-33/hr (Compensation can vary depending on experience)
