Job Title: Histology Technologist
Duration: 06 months (potential extension)

This position will be day shift. Could start as early as 7:30am depending on the agreed upon work schedule.
Histology Technician or Histology Technologist (HT/HTL) certified candidates will have the technical skills we are looking for. The certification is through College of American Pathologists (CAP). We may get more candidates with Histology experience through posting at National Society for Histotechnology (NSH).
Summary:
The Histology Technician is responsible for proficiently performing routine histology technique, solution preparation, supply management, maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment and workstations, and good documentation practices (GDP) in recordkeeping, to support Quality Control Product Release Testing.
This includes all aspects of routine histology and histochemical stains (special stains), such as: sample receipt and accessioning, initial sample preparation (e.g. rehydration, rinsing, generating labels, etc.…), standard grossing and observations, fixation, paraffin and cryo-embedding, paraffin and cryo-microtomy, Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) and Verhoeff-Van Gieson (VVG) for product release testing; as well as routine histology testing and histochemistry (Special Stains) of donor biopsies, explants, fresh, in-process, or final product samples for Tissue Services, Complaints, and Research & Development (R&D), as assigned.
This may include, but not limited to, Masson’s Trichrome, PAS, Oil Red O, Gridley’s Stain for Fungus, Brown & Brenn Stain. Depending on skillset and training, the Histology Technician may perform immunohistochemical technique for product release testing and to support R&D studies. Compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), laboratory safety procedures, and maintenance of department databases/files are required.
Additionally, the Histology Technician is responsible for training colleagues and other cross-functional training activities; troubleshooting histology technique and equipment issues; support equipment validations; continuous/process improvement projects; and the Quality Management System.

• Organizational Skills; and the ability to organize and prioritize tasks/projects
• Teamwork and Interpersonal Skills. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written with all levels of management, internal/external customers, vendors, and those of diverse cultures
• Basic Mechanical skills and lifting up to 20 lbs
• Good visual skills, manual dexterity and eye-to-hand coordination
• Ability to follow SOP’s and Work Instructions with attention to detail
• StroPathogens ng math skills, aptitude for analysis, and technical writing
• Microscopic and Image analysis experience
• Process Improvement experience, e.g. six-sigma, LEAN principles, etc…
• GDP training; and experience in working in a GMP, GCP, or GLP environment.
• Familiar with AATB, ISO, FDA, and USP regulations/guidelines, and audits.
