JOB TITLE: Custodian REPORTS TO: Principal & Custodian Foreman WORK DAYS: 12 Months (240 Days) SALARY: Classified Schedule 71-2 ($29,376-$40,002) LOCATION: TBA FLSA Status: EXEMPTNON EXEMPT X JOB DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the Custodian is to maintain an attractive, sanitary, safe facility for students, staff, and the public. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Follows job related instructions given by the principal and other supervisors. Maintain safe atmosphere for students and persons working in building as well as visitors. Order materials necessary for the upkeep of the building while staying within his/her assigned budget. Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas, neat and clean at all times. After opening the building each day at the designated time, checks to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of occupancy. Daily, at the designated time, secure all doors and windows, and turn off lights except those left on for security reasons. Clean restrooms and drinking fountains daily according to health department regulations. Clean classrooms and corridors daily. Removes trash and rubbish from campus daily; cuts grass weekly and trims shrubbery as needed Care for plants and shrubs inside as well as outside the building. Move furniture and equipment within the building as directed by the Head Custodian. Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state & federal rules & regulations. Engage in professional growth & demonstrates professional ethics & leadership. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Must provide own transportation. High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid Alabama Driver's License.
