Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to.nnWorks with the center director and teacher assistant to ensure planning and implementation of learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children, including improving the readiness of children for school by developing their literacy, phonemic, and print awareness, their understanding and use of language, their understanding and use of increasingly complex and varied vocabulary, their appreciation of books, their understanding of early math and early science, their problem- solving abilities, and their approaches to learning.nnWorks with the center director and teacher assistant to establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.nnWork with the center director and teacher assistant to support the childrens social and emotional development of the children.nnWorks with the center director and the teacher assistant to encourage the involvement of the families of the children in a Head Start program and support the development of relationships between children and their families.nnWorks with the teacher assistant to ensure that the classroom and the childrens restrooms are kept clean and sanitary.nnPrepares weekly lesson plans to be approved by the Child Development Education Manager.nnWorks with mentor-coach if need to improve teaching skills.nnPlans individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment.nnOrganizes and participates in games, reads to children, and guides them in painting, drawing, pre-literacy activities, songs, and finger-lays in both indoor and outdoor learning environments.nnInstructs children in practices of personal cleanliness and self-care. Attends referrals, evaluations, and review conferences for children with identified needs for special services.nnAlternates periods of strenuous activity with periods of rest or light activity to avoid overstimulation and fatigue.nn? Helps children develop habits of caring for their own clothing and picking up and putting away toys and books.nnAssess all children using Teaching Strategies Gold. Plans individual goals for children based on assessment. ABC and CCDF Teachers also will complete work sampling.nnIncludes IEP goals, family or parent goals, and mental health goals on weekly lesson plans for individual children.nnWill conduct a minimum of two parent-teacher conferences, and two home- visits annually. Information shared with parents will be based on reports generated from Teaching Strategies Gold.nnDirects and assists children in eating, resting, and toileting.nnReviews childrens folders on a regular basis to stay current on all documentation.nnStays abreast of health information pertaining to children, works with the family advocate to maintain current documentation in the childs folder.nnWorks with teacher assistant to carry out all health and safety-related activities with children, tooth brushing, daily health checks, hand washing, teaching safe and health practices through curriculum and safety drills.nnMeets with the family advocates to share information about each child and family and to coordinate services to meet their needs.nnCompletes child portfolios with specific requirements. Serves meals and snacks to children and participates in family-style dining.nnUses Conscious Discipline to guide childrens behavior.nnWill comply with all regulations pertaining to the reporting of child abuse and neglect.nnMaintains all documentation and paperwork required for program implementation.nnMaintains knowledge base in CCDF regulations, Head Start performance standards, Environment Rating Scales, Childcare Licensing, Conscious Discipline, Early Childhood best practices, and all curricula used by BRAD Child Development Programs.nnResponsible for progression in professional development.
