Central Ohio Primary Care (COPC) is the largest independent Primary Care physician organization in the US. We are looking for a board-certified Infectious Disease physician for one of our established specialty practices in Westerville. Office is open 4.5 days a week.
Also known as infectious disease specialist, he/she who will diagnose, treat, and help prevent the spread of infections caused by pathogens like viruses or bacteria. Infectious disease specialists have extensive knowledge of how and why viruses, parasites, bacteria, and fungi affect the body. They should be knowledgeable about infectious diseases and their treatments, organized and professional, and have a desire to prevent, consult and help people through difficult times with their disease.
Their responsibilities include:
- Working with the patient's PCP to manage the patient's condition by conducting patient interviews and evaluations, ordering tests and other screenings, reviewing test results, and recommending an appropriate course of treatment.
- Diagnosing illnesses: Review patient medical records, X-rays, and lab reports, and perform physical exams. You may order blood tests, urine tests, stool samples, throat swabs, tissue biopsies, and imaging scans.
- Communication: Communicate the results of tests, condition and course of therapy and medical procedures which includes options, the goal, possible side effects and length of treatment to the patient and as well as recommendations on lifestyle factors to improve recovery.
- Managing the treatment plans for patients with conditions like HIV, leukocytosis, Hepatitis, pneumonia, bone infections, Lyme disease, meningococcal disease, and tuberculosis.
- Rounding at 2 hospital sites and an Inpatient Rehab. Also provides coverage for wound care clinic at one of the rounding hospital campuses including hyperbaric oxygen therapy. In 2025, hospital telehealth consults will start at a new hospital.
- Physicians cover their own calls during the week and cover calls 1 weekend every 5 weeks.
- Updating Electronic Health Records (EPIC) with documentation on each patient's file.
Requirements: - Medical School (four years) (MD/DO)
- Residency in internal medicine (three years).
- Fellowship in infectious diseases (two years).
- Board certification in Internal Medicine: Infectious Disease within two years of joining practice.
- Unrestricted Medical License in Ohio.
- Complete a wound/HBO course with Healogics.
