General Statement of Duties
SUBSTITUTE AUTO DRIVER - The employee in this classification safely and efficiently transports students to and from school or any other school related activity requiring the utilization of a county owned sedan or minivan on an as-needed basis.

Essential Duties
- Conducts proper pre-trip inspection of the vehicle to be driven prior to transporting students
- Ensures that all students are properly secured in their seat prior to moving the vehicle
- Operates vehicle in a safe and efficient manner
- Enforces school bus safety rules
- Maintains order in the vehicle and applies appropriate disciplinary actions with fairness and consistency
- Establishes a good rapport with parents, students and school staff
- Demonstrates good personal hygiene and conduct
- Adheres to route schedule
- Performs related work as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent. The minimum age for employment is 21 years old. Knowledge of operation and function of motor vehicles and governing laws in the State of Virginia. Must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Virginia, and a satisfactory driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles that shows within the preceding five years, there have been no convictions of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances, and no assignments to any alcohol safety action program or driver alcohol rehabilitation program; and within the preceding 12 months, the applicant has not been convicted of two or more moving traffic violations or has not been required to attend a driver improvement clinic by the Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicle, and has no charge of reckless driving
Additional Information
Minimum Salary is $16.51/hour . (Note: Salary will be prorated based on official start date).
