Responsibilities - Provides general nursing care to patients.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Observes, records, and reports patients condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
- Completes paperwork including but not limited to FMLA, disability, Home Health/Hospice, and transfusion orders
- Screens patients for appropriate information.
- Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls.
- Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Arranges transfusions and hospital admissions upon request
- Assures appropriate consent has been obtained prior to treatment or procedures
- Prepares exam rooms including re-stocking of treatment areas.
- Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
- Arranges for pre-authorizations and pre-certifications of hospital admissions as needed.
Qualifications - High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing. BSN preferred.
- Requires a minimum of two years experience as a practical nurse (with Central Line Care and IV skills) in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in practicing state.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Must be willing to travel between offices when needed.
