Plains All American is a leading transportation and midstream provider focusing on transportation, storage, processing, and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). Our extensive network of pipeline transportation, terminalling, storage, and gathering assets is vital in key crude oil and NGL producing basins across the United States and Canada. Position:

Your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive legal support for our operations and compliance efforts. This includes offering expert advice and counsel on environmental permitting and compliance concerning air, water, and waste regulations enforced by federal, state, and local agencies, including the EPA, ACE, FWS, TRRC, and TCEQ.

This position requires physical attendance in the office. The selected candidate will be eligible for a range of company benefits including Medical/Dental/Vision, vacation time off, and free parking.

Responsibilities:

  • Environmental Permitting: Formulate and implement permitting strategies, assist internal clients in acquiring permits and renewals, and monitor challenges to permits while advising on Environmental Justice initiatives.
  • Compliance and Enforcement: Collaborate with internal teams to identify regulatory concerns, prepare responses to agency findings, and manage documentation requests. Provide legal support in addressing alleged regulatory violations and participate in necessary administrative proceedings.
  • Government Affairs: Support internal clients and industry groups in legislative processes, assess the implications of proposed legislation, and file comments to safeguard the company's interests.
  • Internal Controls: Aid internal teams in identifying risks and implementing effective controls, thereby supporting the corporate compliance program.
  • Commercial Transactions: Advise on environmental considerations within complex commercial dealings.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be licensed to practice law
  • At least five years of experience, ideally within a reputable law firm or in-house
  • Stable work history

Skills & Abilities:

  • Exceptional academic credentials
  • Outstanding communication skills to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal professionals clearly
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering results
  • Superb interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with executive management
  • Proactive with strong follow-through
  • Prior experience in regulatory and midstream sectors preferred
  • Clear criminal history and successful reference checks
  • Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy, including pre-employment D&A testing.
