Job Overview: This position is responsible for completing an initial assessment and individualized nursing history on specified inpatient admissions. This position primarily utilizes the assessment portion of the nursing process through direct and indirect care with patients, families and or primary care givers. The position collaborates in a collegial manner with physicians and other health care team members in meeting the patients needs. This position requires excellent organization and customer service skills. Job Requirements: Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) Certification in related specialty within two years of assuming position or within 6 months of becoming eligible for the exam (whichever comes first) Registered Nurse Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the Principles of Biological, Physical, Behavioral, Social, and Nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs at various stages of the life cycle Membership in related professional organization 2-3 years experience Clinical Nursing Job Responsibilities: Provides proficient assessment skills, and ensures Initial assessments are complete and accurate, including vital signs and weight, health counseling needs, evaluation of skin, pain management, fall risk assessment, and safety. Initiates appropriate Plans of Care. Communicates assessment findings to other healthcare providers as appropriate. Uses critical thinking to makes decisions based on assessments. Performs the use of equipment with adept technical expertise. Has achieved all core competencies and required/mandatory education. Remains current in clinical practice: Maintains and/or enhances current knowledge through continuing education, professional organizations, specialty certifications. Provides documentation which reflects thorough nursing history including teaching needs, plan of care, and wound documentation. Documentation meets standards for Quality audits. Acts as a resource to other clinical and ancillary staff/ students. Provides a safe and therapeutic environment while maintaining patient's rights and dignity. Exhibits the ability to prioritize patient needs. Demonstrates appropriate time management and organizational skills. Is proficient in critical thinking skills when problem solving. Assists with patient throughput by completing the admission process in a timely manner and coordinating admission activities with other disciplines Assumes organizational and educational responsibilities. Identifies areas for professional and self-improvement through self-assessment and peer review, as well as the continuing education of team members continuing education, formal education, professional organization membership, and/or certification. Shares knowledge and skills with colleagues and others. Provides peers with constructive feedback regarding skills and knowledge. Maintains awareness of ongoing continuous improvement changes and supports changes through active participation.
