The Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center is part of the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System. The major bed services are Medicine, Surgery, Behavioral Medicine, and Neurology, and has 150 hospital beds and a 110-bed Community Living Center. - Conduct crisis interventions, face-to-face interviews, and mental health evaluations.
- Conduct suicide risk assessments and participate in Interdisciplinary Treatment Team meetings.
- Document patient care and progress accurately.
- Prescribe medication and interpret laboratory results as needed.
- Adhere to mandated reporting requirements and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and their families.
- Collaborate with primary care providers and other healthcare professionals.
- The Psychiatrist serves as psychiatrist-of-the-day for emergencies and follow-ups.
- Administer psychiatric treatment and maintain order within the facility.
- Wear personal protective equipment and adhere to safety protocols.
- Participate in committees and Quality Improvement Teams.
- Compile and analyze data for program requirements.
- Provide training and instruction on psychiatry principles and practices.
- Adhere to telemedicine guidelines for confidentiality and scheduling.
- Maintain medical records for telemedicine visits and comply with regulations.
- The Psychiatrist ensures equipment and connectivity meet security and operational standards.
Psychiatrist - REQUIREMENTS - Minimum 12 months of recent experience in similar psychiatric services within the last 3 years, excluding internship.
- Shall have a current license to practice in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia. All licenses held must be full and unrestricted and do not/have never had a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered, pending action, or denied upon application.
- Must be board certified/board eligible by the ABPN.
- Must have current ACLS and BLS certified or equivalent.
