The candidate may conduct a scholarship in a field of research, will participate in clinical practice, and provide service to the school and the university. Responsibilities will include clinical supervision, clinical simulation, and/or didactic teaching and may include other administrative activities as well.nnPOSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:nnParticipates in the development of curriculum.nnAttends course planning meetings.nnCommunicates with course faculty about student assignments, requirements, and progress.nnEvaluates student’s progress, performance and provides timely feedback in compliance with established course protocols.nnIdentifies problems and consults with course faculty to develop strategies to resolve them.nnServes as a professional role model and resource for students.nnPromotes compliance with student/university policies.nnProvides direct patient care activities through clinical practice opportunities with affiliated hospitals and other healthcare organizations.nnShows a strong potential for developing a funded program of scientific research as well as maintaining a teaching workload (Faculty on the tenure track)nnMaintains a relevant area of scholarship (Faculty on the clinical track)nnMINIMUM EDUCATION:nnDNP or PhD.nnEligibility for licensure as a registered nurse and advanced practice recognition in Texas.nnEXPERIENCE:nnA minimum of one year full-time nurse practice experience.nnEXPERIENCE PREFERRED:nnPrevious experience in leadership/management, education (clinical or didactic teaching), or clinical simulation within nurse anesthesia.nnStrong clinical background and teaching experience.nnFor tenure-track faculty, preference will be given to those who have completed a funded post-doctoral fellowship or to those who have a history of Federal funding as a primary investigator.nnExperience with a course management system.nnCERTIFICATION/SKILLS:nnNBCRNA certification as a CRNAnnWillingness and ability to teach in advanced pharmacology and physiology coursesnnRecent clinical anesthesia experience in an acute care settingnnAssigned active clinical anesthesia practice as facultynnAbility to function in a cohesive educational team modelnnEffective oral and written communication skills.nnInterpersonal skills to interact effectively with students and faculty.nnProficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).nnThe University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth)nnEstablished in 1972 by The University of Texas System Board of Regents, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) is Houston’s Health University and Texas’ resource for health care education, innovation, scientific discovery and excellence in patient care.
