Respiratory Therapist - Job DescriptionnnShift Hours: Evening/Night 6:30pm - 7:00am with rotating weekends and holidays.nnMISSION STATEMENT:nnThe mission of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world throughout outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.nnJOB SUMMARY:nnProvides quality respiratory care to patients according to established procedures.nnJOB FUNCTIONS:nn· Provides respiratory care modalities to patients as ordered by physicians or approved protocols.nn· Develops, implements and revises patient care plans.nn· Ensures prepackaged medications are labeled with patient information and has the correct drug, dosage, and dosage form.nn· Discusses orders for respiratory care with providers, nurses, supervisors, and care teams.nn· Verifies and accurately documents pertinent patient care data including assessment, procedures and patient education in medal record.nn· Assembles, prepares, cleans, and operates respiratory care equipment per established clinical and infection control practices.nn· Documents patient safety issues in safety intelligence.nn· Performs other duties as assigned.nn· Complies with all policies and standards.nnQUALIFICATIONSnnEducation Required: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an approved and accredited program or university.nnEducation Preferred: Bachelor's Degree.nnExperience Required: NonennLicenses Required: All of the following: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Basic Life Support (BLS) by AHA Advanced Life Support, (ACLS) by AHA Licensed by the Texas Medical Board, (TMB) to practice Respiratory CarennEducation Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
