Job Description:
- L3Harris is currently seeking a Security / Vulnerability Research Engineer to join our team. This individual will perform reverse engineering tasks associated with vulnerability detection and manipulation of targeted systems. This position will work at our dedicated facility in Palm Bay, FL. This is an extremely exciting position working with National Security customers to protect and defend our nation. Don’t join a job, join a mission. Essential Functions:
- Vulnerability Research and Reverse Engineering complex software and firmware targets, ranging from typical Windows/Linux binaries to embedded firmware running on non-traditional compute processors and operating systems.
- Experience with computer architectures and system internals like boot processes, system integrity components, transport busses, and proprietary communication protocols
- Performing vulnerability weaponization, exploit development, and payload development
- Experience with operating system internals such as process management, memory management, security mechanisms, and thread management
- Working in multi-disciplinary teams to tackle challenging problems for a wide variety of technologies
- Experience with security and network fundamentals, such as cryptography, authentication, access control, and network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, HTTP, etc.)
- Experience with IDA Pro, Ghidra, or similar binary analysis tools
- Programming experience in scripted languages such as Python and compiled languages such as C
- Understanding of Offensive Cyber Operations (OCO) CONOPS
- Work is 100% on-site and cannot be accomplished remotely.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Top Secret/SCI security clearance required.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with low level architectures such as x86/64, ARM, PowerPC, MIPS and others
- Experience developing custom emulation solutions to enable dynamic analysis using tools such as QEMU
- Experience writing plugins for decompilers such as IDA and Ghidra
- Analyzing protocols or message structures to understand undocumented interfaces
- Proficient in agile development methodologies for efficient collaboration and iterative development
- Experience with hardware debug interfaces such as JTAG, UART, and I2C
- Experience with mechanisms of extracting Firmware from hardware
