Job Description
Working independently under the general direction of the Chair of the DoN, responsible for the program management of two specific programs and one project: 1) T32 Cancer Neuroscience training grant, 2) HMS CME course "Annual Update in Neuro-Oncology", and 3) a list of scholarly articles published by the Departments of Neurology at BWH and MGH for the Annual Report. Upon successful management of the above programs and project, there is an opportunity to expand management to Chair's DFCC SPORE program. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Manager and primary point of contact for the T32 Cancer Neuroscience Training grant. Manage recruitment, appointment and termination of Fellows, collect and maintain their progress reports, performance evaluations, trainings, presentations, publications, and prepare the annual "RPPR" progress report for review by the Program Co-Directors. Manage the budget and expenses in compliance with NIH terms and conditions. Organize all program activities including arranging oversight committee (TOC, PFC and EAB) meetings. The grant requires several training programs, such as mini-courses, a 3-day course called Neuroscience for Cancer Biologists and Cancer Biology for Neuroscientists , and an annual retreat. The PM is actively involved with faculty and responsible for these training programs. Together with DoN Finance, ensure that budgets are communicated, Billing Agreements executed, and funding is spent appropriately. Working as a team with the Chair of the DoN, responsible for the annual live virtual HMS CME course Update in Neuro-Oncology . Point of contact for faculty, HMS CME staff, vendors, and companies/foundations providing grants and participating as Exhibitors. Independently responsible for the production of a list of publications for the annual report. In prior years, the list was developed only for BWH clinicians and researchers. With the merging of MGB departments, the project has been expanded to include MGH. As lead for this project, PM developed the process and procedures, curation, and quality check for the list of publications that in prior years approached 700, and this year is expected to be 1,400. Compile and submit NIH and Foundation grants and progress reports, point of contact for subcontractors, maintain up-to-date OS and other documents, compile JIT materials, ensure that Insight is populated. Prepare, coordinate and maintain MTAs, IACUC and IRB protocols, communicate with external labs, support all lab operations. Other committees and special projects as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: MS, MBA, PhD preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible work experience. SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Strong organizational, communication and judgement skills. Self-starting, independent, motivated and able to prioritize effectively. Demonstrated analytical skills. Effective problem-solving skills. Confidence to interact with all levels of staff, internal and external. Strong database management and computer skills.
