Description
Position Purpose
The Registered Nurse Oversight role works closely with the Resident Care Director to ensure compliance with state policies and ensuring resident safety and dignity.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
• Adheres to and conveys a philosophy that supports the dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and individuality of residents
• Assists RCD with developing, implementing and reviewing resident service plans as needed to comply with doctor orders, state requirements and community policies
• Adhere to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) privacy policies and procedures
• Ensure that required documentation is complete and follows regulations and standards
• Assist communities with performing or supervising the performance of individual nursing services as needed
• Provide direction and monitoring of unlicensed care staff and others as needed
• Coordinate Wellness Services procedures to admit new residents as needed
• Assist with training/orientation of staff concerning Wellness Services functions and procedures as directed; provide staff in-services as required
• Able to evaluate the resident's condition for changes or symptoms through observation and in non-traditional ways
• Assess prospective residents to determine care needs and appropriateness for residency
• Identify at-risk residents and help create a risk management plan if needed
• Communicate with residents, families, staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers regarding resident health issues and service plans as needed
• Assist with the facilitation of alternative placement or supplemental care when appropriate
• Oversee medication setup and delivery system as needed
• Respond to resident emergency calls as needed, review and document emergency call responses
• Provide safe, secure storage of all medications, supplies, equipment, etc.
• Complete necessary care documentation (written and or electronic) timely and accurately
• Assure accurate documentation reflecting care provided to residents promptly
• Delegate nursing tasks when appropriate
• Issue nursing or clinical orders, based on the needs of the residents when needed
• Ensure unlicensed staff is up to date with all certification requirements
• Maintain confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients, families and employees
• Supervise the Resident's medication program under the direction of the Director of Resident Care
• Help residents with medications and/or treatments as indicated in the medication book and as assigned and allowed by regulation
• Help resident with all personal care functions as needed
• Respond to calls from the emergency call system in a timely manner as per training
• Demonstrate knowledge of and follows infection control procedures
• Help with meal services as requested, including setting up tables, serving meals, and cleaning up the dining room
• Help maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment by providing housekeeping services as needed
• Help resident at mealtimes and monitors resident's eating habits
• Help resident to and from daily activities
• Measure and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, etc., and report any changes in condition
• Communicates with residents and families regarding care
• Attend all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required
• Monitors for changes in resident needs, preferences, and/or health status and reports/documents any changes according to established procedures
• Report any abuse, suspected abuse, or alleged abuse to the appropriate supervisor and/or agencies
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications, Education, Experience, & Physical Requirements
• RN required with and active incumbent nursing license in the the state of Nebraska
• Demonstrate the ability to make appropriate professional judgments
• Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress Ability to handle multiple tasks
• Must have a desire to work with the seniors in an environment that upholds their privacy, dignity, choice, independence, and individuality
• Must meet in-service training requirements
• Must be able to work well with others and function effectively as part of a team
• Must have a clean criminal record, as determined by a criminal record clearance
• Knowledge of medication, dosage, terminology, side effects, and health factors
• This position requires spending a majority of the workday standing and walking, with occasional sitting
• At least three years of experience in an assisted living community preferred
• Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications
• Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift up to 50lbs as needed
• Able to work a flexible schedule, which includes, evenings, weekends, and holidays
