Job Summary The Physician Assistant's responsibilities include working with physicians to provide professional services included but not limited to comprehensive medical care of patients by examining, diagnosing, and treating acute and chronic health conditions. Design a plan of care, with the patient, to promote, maintain and/or restore health. Perform various additional patient care actions depending on the diagnosis. Participate in medical direction to (staff) individuals providing direct patient care, assist in the education of staff in the delivery of patient services, and assist in responsibility for the supervision of the overall professional and clinical aspects of care rendered at the practice site.
Minimum Job Requirements - Unrestricted Physician Assistant license.
- Current DEA registration
- Authorization to administer medication.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Certification, current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, and current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification OR must obtain upon hire through RQI before working clinically in the Emergency Department.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities - Possess clinical skills, professional, physiological and emerging technical knowledge and proficiency in diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation procedures.
- Familiarity with HER/EMR programs.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, Hospital Administrations, providers, consultants, business associates and regulatory agencies presenting a professional image as a representative of Marion General Hospital.
- Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.
- Excellent time management, and organizational skills
- Ability to problem solve, multi-task in a fast-paced setting and work well in a team environment.
- Highly developed computer skills to include the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to operations and job function.

Working Conditions - Typical hospital and clinical environment with frequent standing and walking
- Work may be subject to interruptions and occasional high stress levels.
