In Fremont, CA, we serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing innovative optical modules to support our customer's next generation networks. We are looking for an Optical Engineer to join our team. This person will be responsible for optical system design and analysis of innovative fiber optical products, such as the optical cross-connect switches that are used in telecom and datacom. This person will design cutting edge technology for an optical cross connect switch with the direction of multi-discipline teams, including sales and marketing, product line managers, electrical, mechanical, and optical R&D teams, and work with colleagues of different geographic sites. What You Will Do Design new fiber optical products and manage product extensions Participate in the optical design and analysis of the MEMS optical cross-connect switches Work with chief/principal optical engineer to design new products, build optical models and performance error and tolerance analysis Provide technical guidance to process engineers and technicians Provide technical support to customers and suppliers Provide technical support on processes development Perform design verification activities to ensure that optical design meets the specifications of the customers and standard organizations Release drawings of optical components and sub-assemblies Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) Masters degree in physics, applied physics, optics and optical engineering, electrical engineering with optical orientations At least 6 years of free space and/or micro-optics system design and development experience Expertise in free space and/or micro-optics optical system design, photonic simulation and developing prototypes Experience in Zemax, CODE-V and/or other simulation tools to build models of optical products. Proficient in optical system tolerance analysis What Will Put You Ahead Ph.D. degree in optics, physics or related technical discipline Experience in process development for fiber optical product Experience with design for manufacturing and manufacturing processes Experience with the characteristics and use of various optical adhesives, glasses, ceramics, and metallic materials. Familiar with the opto-mechanical design concepts and principles For this role, we anticipate paying $150,000 - $210,000 per year.
