National Veterinary Associates is seeking a Manager of Regional Operations to support our New Mexico Division THE POSITION National Veterinary Associates is seeking to hire a Manager of Regional Operations (MRO) to meet the demands of our rapid growth. The Manager of Regional Operations is responsible for supporting the operations, NVA initiatives,and business functions of NVA veterinary practices, within the region of responsibility. This role acts as a liaison between the NVA Support Center and the veterinary practice and performs duties at the direction of the Division Leader. The successful candidate will maintain the exceptional relationships that have been built with hospital leadership and their teams over the years, and extend that capability into new practices as they are acquired. The Manager of Regional Operations will be responsible for spending extensive time in the field with hospital leadership and staff, which is critical for success. This individual will work directly with veterinary practices to improve processes and profitability and identify and implement local growth initiatives. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education required, graduate level course work preferred. Minimum 2 years experience in the area of healthcare management (veterinary practice preferred). Knowledge of veterinary practice management software, such as AVImark, preferred. Knowledge of practice management processes, efficiencies, standards, metrics, and benchmarks. Must be self-directed and able to work independently. Skilled in financial management, planning, prioritizing, and supervising. Needs to function as a practice management consultant and provide direction for improvement. Demonstrates sound judgment, good problem-solving, and decision-making ability and takes initiative. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with medical, administrative, and support staff, while maintaining confidentiality when necessary. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form and will require some presenting and training. Ability to meet deadlines and provide prompt attention to practice staff. Ability to travel a minimum of 75% of the time. SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Hospital Operations Acts as a collaborative liaison between hospitals, NVA support center, and the division leader (DDO, MDO). Acquires and maintains knowledge of organizational and local practice policies and procedures. Effectively uses practice management software (AVImark) and NVA support systems, such as Doclink, Webport, NVA Learn, NVA SharePoint. Analyzes and interprets operational reports and identifies areas for improvement. Implements and champions NVA initiatives as a change manager. Efficiently manages time, balancing the priorities of multiple hospitals. Strategic Planning and Leadership Collaborates with the hospital leadership to create an overall strategy and obtains buy-in and alignment with staff. Creates action plans, sets and manages goals, delegates tasks, and tracks metrics. Works with the division leader and hospital leadership to develop strategic plans (ie. value proposition, positioning in local market, etc.). Analyzes and improves systems, policies, and processes. Negotiates and mediates issues/conflicts; coaches and provides feedback to staff. Plans, organizes, and leads regional meetings. Effectively onboards new managers and conducts 30-60-90 day check-ins and collaborates with support center staff in getting new hospital staff positioned in their role. Mentors, coaches, and sets expectations with hospital leadership and staff. Ensures hospital managers are trained in financial and operational systems and methods. Analyzes the financial health of hospitals and diagnoses financial issues using appropriate reports. Assists with the preparation and communication of the annual budget. Oversees the management of costs, particularly labor. Manages revenue growth. People Management Manages the performance management cycle from interviewing and hiring to counseling and terminating staff, and assists hospital managers with personnel issues/problems. Ensures hospitals comply with all Federal and State human resource policies (I-9, DEA, OSHA). Conducts Hospital Manager performance reviews and oversees career development. Makes recommendations for staff training and development. Client Relations Develops, champions, and oversees client acquisition and retention initiatives. Directs and oversees tactics for increasing new client visits. Effectively assesses the quality of service and provides direction for enhancing quality.
