Job Description

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waxahachie is currently looking for an Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist to work within the largest hospital system in the state of Texas. This position will be affiliated with the Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) Advanced Heart Failure, Transplant, and LVAD Cardiology Group. Since our first heart transplant in 1986, BUMC has become one of the highest volume transplant and LVAD centers in UNOS Region 4. We have performed over 1,000 heart transplants and 500 LVAD implantations while also offering the shortest wait time from time of listing to transplant in Texas. Our section is actively engaged in clinical research sponsored by NIH, external foundations, intramural funds, and industry with over 40 active trials. We are also part of the Baylor Annette C. and Harold C. Simmons Transplant Institute, one of the largest multi-specialty transplant centers in the country.

Position Overview:

  • Full-time staff position will be based in Waxahachie, TX with optional responsibilities involving heart transplant and LVAD duties on the Dallas, TX campus.
  • Employment by Health Texas Provider Network (HTPN) - the employment arm of Baylor Scott & White.
  • Affiliation with the Cardiology Section of Advanced Heart Failure, Transplant, Mechanical Circulatory Support at Baylor Dallas.
  • Faculty appointment with Texas A&M Health Sciences Center is available to interested candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert care to patients with advanced heart failure including cardiogenic shock.
  • Evaluate and manage heart transplant candidates and recipients.
  • Evaluate and manage mechanical circulatory support (LVAD, tMCS, and ECMO) candidates and recipients.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experts to deliver exceptional patient care.
  • Contribute to clinical research and education initiatives within the division.
  • Optional skills: endomyocardial biopsies, right and left heart catheterizations, transesophageal echocardiograms, implanting percutaneous mechanical circulatory support

Qualifications:

  • ABIM board certified or board eligible in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.
  • Subspecialty Fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.
  • Texas state medical licensure.
