Ultimate Staffing is looking for an NPI Buyer/Expeditor to support our client in Scotts Valley, CA (yes, by the beach!) This is an employee-owned company with a family first culture and offers profit sharing for full-time employees. This role is onsite, and the pay range is $40-48/hour depending on experience.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to fill the hybrid role of Engineering Buyer & NPI Expediter . This position blends supply chain coordination and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. You will ensure the timely delivery of critical materials to meet project schedules. This is a key role for driving efficiency in sourcing and material availability within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Engineering Buyer Responsibilities:
- Manage the procurement of electronic components for specific projects or product lines.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.
- Collaborate with Project Management to forecast and plan procurement needs.
- Collaborate with other members of the Supply Chain team to ensure alignment.
- Adhere to purchasing processes and approval limit rules
- Identify and document cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with Copy Exact and quality standards in procurement activities.
NPI Expediter Responsibilities:
- Proactively track and manage the timely delivery of materials and documentation for NPI and engineering projects.
- Work with suppliers to expedite orders, resolve issues, and ensure delivery deadlines are met.
- Coordinate with internal teams (doc control, engineering, production, and project managers) to align material availability with project timelines.
- Update MRP or project management systems with order and delivery statuses.
- Troubleshoot issues related to materials or shipments to prevent delays.
- Provide regular updates on material delivery status to internal stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience:
- 2-4 years in procurement, logistics, or supply chain roles, preferably in digital, technology, or engineering sectors.
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes required.
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with MRP (Syspro) and procurement software.
- Strong understanding of engineering documentation (e.g., BOMs, ECOs, technical drawings).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical mindset for problem-solving and process optimization.
