Job Duties

The Safety Manager is a pivotal role responsible for leading the development and implementation of comprehensive safety programs that protect the health and well-being of our employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders. Reporting directly to the VP/Field Operations, this role ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, promotes a culture of safety excellence, and proactively mitigates risks across all construction projects.


This position combines strategic oversight with hands-on fieldwork, requiring strong leadership, attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards in the construction industry.

  1. Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety programs and policies
  2. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company standards
  3. Serve as the primary contact for OSHA regulations, advising personnel on compliance and partnering with operations leadership to address safety concerns.
  4. Investigate and report incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
  5. Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety planning into all phases of construction
  6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices.
  7. Manage time and resource allocation and provide safety leadership to assigned projects
  8. Promote safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with company and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) policies, Federal, State, and Local regulations, and owner contractual requirements
  9. Maintain and enhance working relationships with project staff and subcontractor Safety Representatives
  10. Develop accountability model for project team to ensure pre-planning for activities and tasks for subcontractors and trades
  11. Review subcontractor safety programs for completeness and compliance with company and EH&S policies, Federal, State, and Local regulations, and owner contractual requirements
  12. Review quality of Pre-Task Plans (PTPs) for project subcontractors and Trades based on contractual requirements
  13. Hold Preconstruction planning meetings with subcontractors to review site safety programs and job hazard analysis for their scope of work and to establish and review risk mitigation plans
  14. Develop safety action items for Preconstruction meetings and verify subcontractors conduct training as per OSHA standards
  15. Ensure timely log of subcontractors’ toolbox safety meetings
  16. Conduct and review project team’s safety audits, assess recommended corrective actions, and issue reports of violations and / or unsafe practices for immediate resolution
  17. Develop Site Specific Health & Safety Plans
  18. Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned


Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field of study, minimum of 5 years of related construction safety experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  2. Familiar with general construction operations.
  3. Familiar with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
  4. Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail
  5. Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and safety regulations
  6. Knowledge of Federal, State and local Environmental Health & Safety regulations
  7. Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement proactive measures.
  8. Ability to work on Federal Installations.
  9. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels
  10. OSHA 30, CHST, CSP certifications a must.
  11. EM 385-1-1 certified or ability to become certified.


Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000
