SUMMARY
The Lead Infrastructure Engineer will provide 3/4th line technical support for all platform, cyber protection and Active Directory incidents and projects. This person will work directly with all service teams both locally and globally to develop business solutions and provide on-boarding delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Leads on technical consultancy assignments which involve specialists from various IT disciplines, and takes responsibility for the quality, timely delivery, and appropriateness of the team’s recommendations.
- Interface with the IT/OT and I&C teams for coordination and integration of the network
- Ability to create, follow and implement technical roadmaps and or strategies.
- Lead on the road map for Open-Source technologies specifically Linux within FDB
- Conduct reviews of backup procedures and match the RTO/RPO times required by the business.
- Conduct server hardening activities e.g. The removal of unnecessary services, applications, and network protocols including but not limited to file and printer sharing services, wireless networking services, remote control and remote access services, web servers, web services and email services. If removal is not possible, the relevant services should be disabled.
- Leads the technical activity (design, build, testing) on significant and/or complex projects or portfolio of projects.
- Lead on the assessment of business and service requirements and the design of the technical architecture for Intrinsic financial services.
- Leads others in resolving complex technical problems and investigating the root cause of problems and recommends smart (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, timely) solutions.
- Contribution to the change, release & deployment management processes providing application technical knowledge and expertise in the creation and submission of change requests, change evaluation, release planning and implementation.
- Lead on the validation, testing and acceptance into service process and undertake appropriate test scripting and test execution for the functionality, performance, and manageability of infrastructure services.
- Supporting Knowledge Management by documenting infrastructure management related knowledge articles, local work instructions, system configuration, operational and user manuals, ensuring that they are up to date and properly utilised.
- Supporting Problem Management in undertaking diagnosis and resolution of problems and in validating and maintaining the Known Error Database.
- All other duties and service deliverables dependant on business needs
- Facilitate availability, capacity and continuity management processes including application sizing and performance, load testing.
- Provide diagnostics and support of Microsoft server platform issues.
- Provide initial diagnostics of Network related faults.
- Development of knowledge articles (providing appropriate training where required)
- Manage and achieve service levels seeking input from other teams where required.
- Perform system monitoring, analysing, and progressing alerts to maintain KPI’s.
- Keep up to date with all changes in the FDB environment to facilitate understanding and diagnosis of user faults / requirements to ensure point of call resolution is achievable.
- Work with the established service management tool (ServiceNow) to record, update and manage incidents and meet KPI’s.
- Actively seek to improve and develop own skills and knowledge base in appropriate areas and stay abreast of new technologies.
- Suggest service improvements in process and technologies used by FDB to meet business objectives.
- Familiarisation with emergency release management process, incident management, capacity management, service continuity management, service level management, configuration management and change management processes.
- Supporting access management by maintaining infrastructure specific access rights by undertaking creation, deletion and modification of user accounts whilst ensuring access controls are maintained and regularly monitored and reviewed in conjunction with security policies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in preferably in computer science, Business Administration, Engineering with 5 years of experience
- Associate’s degree in preferably in computer science, Business Administration, Engineering with 7 years of experience
- High School degree in preferably in computer science, Business Administration, Engineering with 9 years of experience
- Citrix Certification at advanced level (desirable)
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (desirable)
- VCP (desirable)
- MCSE (desirable)
- Azure certifications (desirable)
- Identity and Access Administrator Associate (desirable)
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience of leading on platform design, configuration, and implementation projects
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft based server operating systems.
- In-depth knowledge of Citrix administration including F5 load balancing
- In-depth knowledge of VMware
- In-depth knowledge of Opensource Technologies specifically Red Hat
- Experience of Azure and Amazon cloud technologies
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory management and design including ADD.
- Strong knowledge of Backup technologies and Storage arrays
- Working knowledge of Hyper Converged Infrastructure advantageous
- Working knowledge of MSQL Infrastructure advantageous
- Experience of troubleshooting and using remote access tools
- Terminal Server tools and configuration
- Knowledge of enterprise firewall solutions and their impact
- In-depth knowledge of ITIL / awareness of ISO20000\27000
- Life Sciences experience is a plus.
