Role : Senior Design Engineer


Location: Buffalo Grove, IL


Duration: Direct Hire


Salary: up to $150k (will go up for a good candidate)


Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Design Engineer to join our automation team. In this role, you will lead the design and development of automation systems, components, and solutions tailored to meet customer requirements. You will play a key role in advancing our technology, driving product innovation, and ensuring excellence in design quality.


Key Responsibilities:


System Design: Develop detailed designs for automation systems, including mechanical, electrical, and software integration components.

Product Development: Lead the creation of prototypes, evaluate performance, and implement design improvements.

Project Oversight: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet project objectives, timelines, and budgets.

Customer Collaboration: Work directly with clients to understand requirements and translate them into innovative design solutions.

Compliance: Ensure designs adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality guidelines.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance existing products and processes to improve performance, cost, and manufacturability.

Documentation: Create and maintain technical drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and other project documentation.


Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Design Engineering (or related field); a Master’s degree is a plus.


Experience:

Minimum of 5–7 years in design engineering, preferably in the automation or manufacturing industry.

Proven track record in designing complex automation systems or equipment.


Technical Skills:

Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo). o Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). o Experience with material selection and manufacturing processes (machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, etc.).

Knowledge of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and simulation tools is a plus.


Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Professional Engineer, Six Sigma) are a plus.
