Retail Buyer - Women's Apparel

About the Role:

We are seeking a talented and passionate Retail Buyer to join our dynamic team at (Company Name). As a key member of our buying team, you will be responsible for sourcing, selecting, and purchasing women's apparel that aligns with our brand vision and meets the needs of our target customer. You will play a crucial role in driving sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Merchandising and Buying: Develop and execute a comprehensive buying strategy for women's apparel, including trend forecasting, line planning, and assortment building.
  • Source and select high-quality, on-trend merchandise from domestic and international suppliers.
  • Negotiate favorable terms with vendors, including pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
  • Analyze sales data and trends to identify opportunities for growth and optimize inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with the design and marketing teams to develop cohesive and compelling product assortments.
  • Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure timely deliveries and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular vendor meetings to review performance and address any issues.
  • Evaluate vendor performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Financial Management: Manage budgets and control expenses to achieve profitability goals.
  • Analyze financial data to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize inventory investments.
  • Market Research: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscapes.
  • Attend trade shows and market events to source new products and identify emerging trends.
  • Store Support: Provide support to store teams by sharing product knowledge, merchandising guidelines, and sales strategies.
  • Collaborate with store managers to address inventory issues and ensure product availability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in retail buying, preferably in women's apparel.
  • Strong understanding of the fashion industry, including trends, fabrics, and sourcing.
  • Excellent negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Ability to travel as needed to attend trade shows and vendor meetings.
