At DM, retailers have access to uniquely curated brands of active and lounge wear, novelty apparel, fashion accessories, protective essentials, impulse items, travel gear, readers and sunglasses, tech accessories, kitchenware, jewelry, and more.

If you are an organizational guru with a creative eye and a positive attitude, this role is for you. As an Assistant Buyer, you will work directly with the Senior Buyer to develop new products across multiple categories and brands while working alongside the creative team to bring physical product, packaging and merchandising to life. You will also assist in organizing samples, tracking the progress of existing projects and placing initial purchase orders. Most importantly, you will need to adhere to market timelines and work with the Senior Buyer to stay ahead of the product development life cycle.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist Senior Product Developer/Buyer with development, production, and ordering new items
  • Communicate with vendors to follow up on cost negotiations, materials and product details
  • Create initial purchase orders for new products
  • Keep all product information updated across all digital platforms
  • Organize samples, quotes and vendor communications for each project
  • Create and update new product presentations for meetings
  • Other duties as required

Preferred Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years product buying and/or product development experience
  • Ability to communicate with overseas vendors
  • Ability to multi-task with shifting priorities
  • Work well in a collaborative environment
  • An appreciation for fashion and design
  • Strategic thinker with a positive attitude
  • Highly proficient in MS Office products (Excel and PowerPoint skills preferred)
  • Must be well organized with the ability to keep multiple projects on track simultaneously
