Associate Scientist, Discovery Biology

W2 Contract

Salary Range: $99,800 - $120,600 per year

Location: South San Francisco, CA - Onsite Role

Job Summary:

As an Associate Scientist on our Discovery Biology team, you will support flow cytometry-based research needs. You will perform routine instrument maintenance, laser calibration, and general troubleshooting related to flow cytometry. You will operate flow sorters independently to support preclinical research activities. The ideal candidate must be self-driven, well-organized, and a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide flow cytometry instrument routine maintenance.
• Support flow cytometry instrument troubleshooting to minimize instrument offline time.
• Perform cell sorting experiments to support other scientists within the organization.
• Facilitate new user training and provide general flow user support.
• Manage reagent and consumable inventories related to flow cytometry.
• Maintain detailed records of the experimental procedures and data following company policy.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• A bachelor's or master's degree in biology, oncology, immunology, cell biology, or related field, with at least 3 years of relevant experience
• Foundational knowledge of flow cytometry and hands-on experience with flow-based assays
• Prior experience with flow cytometry analysis software, such as BD DIVA, FlowJo, and FCS Express
• A critical thinker with prior experience in instrumentation troubleshooting and problem-solving
• Well-organized, attention to detail, and quick learning skills are highly desirable.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and enjoys collaborative environments
• Able to lift up to 40 lbs

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with BD Aria sorter
• Prior working experience within industry or academia flow core labs
• Familiarity with spectral FACS
